CAVING
On a cave excursion or caving (actually you "travel" through caves) you immerse yourself in a completely foreign, unknown world: we can only see the way in the light of our headlamps. Climbing, abseiling, sliding on your seat: this is how you move around in a cave.
Depending on the weather, we wade through knee-high water in the cave. During a cave excursion you will experience silence and absolute tranquility inside a mountain. There is no light, it is so dark that the term darkness itself loses its meaning. You can literally not see your hand in front of your eyes. The beam of your headlamp creates the space in front of you.
In a cave time seems to stand still, it is a journey through time.
The tour starts with a walk of about 15 minutes, which leads us to the entrance of the Stollen "cave". After a short break and checking our equipment, our inner-earth adventure begins.

Historical background to the cave:
Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde am Fuße des Ambergs der Bau des weltgrößten Windkanals für die Luftfahrtforschung geplant. Im Windkanal sollten Windgeschwindigkeiten nahe der Schallgeschwindigkeit (Mach 1) erreicht werden. Dieses ambitionierte Projekt sollte zur Entwicklung neuer Flugzeugteile und -technologien beitragen. Bei unsere Tour durchqueren wir die beeindruckenden und geschichtsträchtigen Gänge des Stollensystems. Unsere Route führt uns über spektakuläre Abseilstellen in große Höhlenräume, durch steile Druckstollen hinab vorbei an Notausstiegsstollen. Die verzweigten Wege im Inneren der Erde bieten nicht nur spannende Einblicke in geologische Formationen, sondern auch in die menschliche Ingenieurskunst der Kriegszeit.

LEISURE AREA / SUN TERRACE
Our approx. 3000 m² Outoor base with sun terrace invites you to stay and relax, enjoy a cold drink, before or after the activities.
For our guests there are also football goals, a slackline and a volleyball court available at our camp.
When the weather is nice, you can use our fire pit for free to grill yourself and then end the day with a campfire. You need to provide your own food, drinks and charcoal; we will be happy to provide you with barbecue tongs, plates and cutlery. Reserve the barbecue spot in advance.
